marriage counseling

One of the most popular pasttimes currently is the use of social networking websites like Facebook and Myspace. You can find long lost friends and even meet new ones thanks to these sites. People who are lonely can also find companionship on these sites. Some people even meet online and fall in love which can damage a marriage if they’re in one. True to the technological age we are living in, this new social medium is now being cited as a cause of divorces.

One of the leading reasons for many divorces nowadays according to researchers is Facebook. People looking to flirt with members of the opposite sex can easily do so on these sites. These flirtations typically start out with innocence, but can quickly devolve into an affair causing one or both parties to seek a divorce from their spouse so they can be with the other person. Spouses who are suspicious of their partner’s online activities can easily find evidence of an affair on these sites.

A couple of decades ago it would have been unimaginable to think that the Internet would eventually become a high-tech tool for matchmaking and marriage breaking. This has happened in many cases however, which is a fact that many divorce lawyers can attest to. One example cited is where a woman got a divorce from her husband because he was using the site “Second Life” to have an affair with a woman he had never even met.  One woman found out on Facebook that her husband had filed for divorce. I’m astonished at the world that we live in today.

Social networking has opened us all up to meeting a vast array of people we would never have met otherwise. These sites are even the source of developing serious relationships for some people. With almost half of the marriages made in the United States ending in divorce, sites like Facebook are only another cause in a list of many. Some attorneys even gather evidence on Facebook and use it in court. Marital problems will only get worse as these sites grow even more in popularity.Doc No. lkisdflkj-sdlhs
