As Internet marketers we all use lead generation tools, and probably the most important of those is the squeeze page, where we collect potential customers’ names and email addresses. They work like gangbusters for lead generation. However, because they’re only one page, without much content, except a great headline a few bullet points and an opt-in box, search engines don’t like them. They provide no value to the Web, as they see it.

So, how can you get your squeeze page to rank, and provide value to the Web at the same time?

Here are a couple of solid ideas to make it happen:

Add a blog to your domain. Put the squeeze page on your main domain and put your blog into a subdirectory, such as /blog, and just add content to that blog every day. You don’t necessarily have to write every day. Most people don’t like to do that, but you can add YouTube videos that have something to do with your niche, or you can create videos yourself and add them. You can create an audio and make that work for you. Or, you can use a simple image and create some content around that. There are plenty of ways to add content to a blog.

Once you have your daily post written, then be sure to bookmark it in the social bookmarking sites. You probably don’t want to bookmark it in all of them, but use the big ones like Digg, Propeller, Reddit, Delicious, and Mixx. Creating a cool title for your bookmark will get you more attention. It doesn’t have to be the same title as your post, so you can get creative.

You can also write articles and send links back to your squeeze page. Articles must be about a topic in your niche, preferably something that people are having problems with. For example, since this article is about Internet marketing, and getting a squeeze page to rank in the search engines is a common problem that all Internet marketers face it is a problem solving article.

But simply writing an article isn’t enough.

The next step is to load your article into at least one article directory. Keeping your material as unique as possible is a good idea, so I wouldn’t recommend blasting your work to several different directories, unless you’re not worried about search and are just going for traffic.

Getting search engine rankings for a squeeze page isn’t simple, but it can be done. Add content on the back end and send plenty of links, and the search engines will take notice. Also be sure that your title and description Meta tags are properly completed, and ranking will occur with time and care.
